ADULT DAY CENTERS
Scenic Valley Area VIII Agency on Aging provides financial assistance for adult day services. The adult center can be a "home away from home." Stimulating and fun activities are provided in a supervised environment. Meals and snacks are available.

Adult day service is designed for adults who have limited opportunities for participating in educational and recreational activities and for their caregivers who need a break.

A nurse or a social worker provides the information and assistance you need to make good choices about the community services available to you. There is no charge for Eldereach. Financial assistance may be available for some of the services you choose.

Scenic Valley Area VIII Agency on Aging provides financial assistance for a 24-hour system that alerts first responders in case of an emergency. Emergency response enables older persons to feel more confident and secure about living at home.

LEGAL ASSISTANCE
Scenic Valley Area VIII Agency on Aging provides financial assistance for legal advice, counseling, and representation by an attorney in many types of non-criminal legal matters.

Typical legal issues for older persons can involve:

  • Medicaid, Medicare, health care directives, insurance

  • Social Security, SSI, VA, and other benefit programs

  • Housing and real estate issues

  • Consumer issues such as sales solicitations and credit problems

  • Wills and estate planning matters

  • Guardianship, conservatorship, and elder abuse

RESPITE SERVICES
Scenic Valley Area VIII Agency on Aging provides financial assistance for a trained respite worker to provide respite services in the home in order to allow a brief period of relief or rest for a primary caregiver. Respite service is designed for the caregiver of an older person who is not able to attend an adult day center.

SENIOR CENTERS
Senior Centers provide a variety of leisure-time activities for older persons. The activities may include card games, bingo, crafts, exercise, parties, movies, musical events, dancing, educational programs, health clinics, surfing the Internet, and much more. Events are usually held Monday through Friday.

Scenic Valley Area VIII Agency on Aging provides financial assistance for transportation services. Rides are provided through the local transit operator.
