How You Can Help
Volunteering
If you are interested in donating time to our agency there are two ways you can become involved
in our work:
- Become an SMP volunteer. Our SMP volunteers are public speakers who educate older people and their families about Medicare fraud and mistakes, by showing how they as consumers of Medicare can prevent and detect some of these things. Speakers receive thorough training and receive updates monthly that they can use to inform their audiences about current fraud and scams against older people. They also receive periodic training. Speakers need to be omfortable interacting with older people. Call 588-3970 if you have questions, would like to observe a speaker, etc.
- Become a volunteer at a local senior center or meal site. Help the site manager with announcements, greeting diners and helping them fill out registration forms (a requirement the first time an older person comes to dine at a meal site.) Please call 588- 3970 for more information.
- Volunteer to help deliver Finley “mobile meals.” These meals are sent out hot from the Finley Hospital kitchen Monday through Friday. Please call 588-3970 for more information.
